Stockholm Says NO to Privatization & Budget Cuts

Over 200 hundred residents of Stockholm city and its environs made manifestation early this evening ( May 28th 2012) down town in Sergel's square against the privatization of social services and budget cuts on social welfare. The protest which was organized by the city's municipality drawn hundreds of demonstrators which among other included the elderly, the youth, the disabled, women, men, the working class and their children. The demonstrators expressed their dismay and frustration against the privatization of social services like hospitals, schools, pharmacies, housings, factories, care centers for the elderly & the disabled, etc which paved ways to make huge profits for few riches at the expense of the working class and the most vulnerable. According to the protesters, artists and representatives of the opposition parties and trade unions; the Moderate and Swedish Democrats parties are responsible for this recent negative trend which resulted in massive youth unemployment, job cuts, increased housing costs, low payment & a lot of stress on the employees of care centers. The protesters urged the politicians to stop gambling at the livelihoods of millions of people in Sweden and to prioritize human-beings more than profit. Local amateur artists & a very well known comedian entertained the crowd with performances highlighting the social injustice and inequalities created due to capitalism.
