This evening on my return from the capital city of Colombo back to kandy on the Kadugannawa road, these pictures show the swirling mists coming down to Kandy.

Nothing but rain and more rain, dark gloomy, with a lot of trees and earth slips fallen on the way to Colombo

American Rock Salt in Livingston County New York (just south of Rochester) is packed full of salt for the 2009 2010 season. Each year, hundreds of thousands of tons of salt are shipped out via rail and truck.

Severe rain brings down earth slips in Kandy

Yesterday heavy rains brought down a landslide from the top of the hill on to this tunnel, close to where I stay, so this morning we could not go through the tunnel until the roadway going into the tunnel was cleared, here you see the road workers cleaning the earth on top of the tunnel and on the road, we had to make detour from another roadway to get home.

"This Is How Hot the Fire Was"

“This beautiful, majestic animal tried to outrun the flames, apparently escaping from a burning ranch,” explained animal welfare activist Leo Grillo. “There are burned corrals up there [on Mount Gleason]. This horse's body was actually cremated, which takes a full eight hours to do at a crematory. That's how hot the fire was."

Grillo is one of many Los Angeles County residents outraged over the U.S. Forest Service's conclusion that it did nothing wrong when it withheld preemptive air support. The Station Fire was the largest wildfire in the history of Los Angeles County. Two firefighters died and nearly all of the indigeneous wildlife in its path were incinerated.

The blaze was caused by arson.
