Washington (CNN) -- Nearly two years into the recession, opinion about which political party is responsible for the severe economic downturn is shifting, according to a new national poll. A CNN/Opinion Research Corp. survey released Friday morning indicates that 38 percent of the public blames Republicans for the country's current economic problems. In May, 53 percent blamed the GOP. How soon they forget, no wonder they can get away with anything.

Thanks to an interview on Terry Gross' Fresh Air, Jack learned about agnosias, a term that means "without knowledge". It is used to describe a family of related symptoms affecting dementia and Alzheimer's patients. It is sometimes reassuring to be able to put a name to a symptom.

SCIENTISTS THROWN UNDER THE BUS (PUBLIC OPINION)

As soon as the word came out about the taskforce decision about breast cancer screening, I said to myself, "oh god, here it comes". And is sure did come - a huge media frenzy regarding this topic. It opened the discussion today as well on meet the press and the chief medical editor for MSNBC (Nancy something, sorry) made the point that I knew was coming:

SCIENCE WAS THROWN UNDER THE BUS OF PUBLIC OPINION.

Scientists have to job to take an intervention and study it - to help us determine is X interevention effective. Now, in this study (which is not the only study by the way and not the end of the discussion) shows that 1/1900 40-49 year old women will have the screening and will survivie as a result.

Now, it would not matter if that number was 1/6000, we would be sitting here having the same discussion right now.

The question is, at what level would you the consumer not desire to have this test done? 1/4000?, 1/6000, 1/10,0000? Or should it be done no matter what to save that one life?

There are in fact many tests that have undergone scientific review for say heart disease or for lupus, or whatever, any other disease not cancer. The taskforce would have released their recommendation regarding this test, and no one would have noticed (not to say they shouldn't have). Were these decisions regarding say a test or a medication for heart disease less meaningful to people?

Anyway, the taskforce's job is about science. National guidelines will now decide weather they agree - and FYI - there are many guidelines for major diseases, and they frequently do not agee....then it is up to the Doctor.

So do we pay for every test in the US that is very much marginally effective?

This brings up the other thing that was thrown under the bus too, the concept of an intelligent system of managed care in this country. This is in fact, wheather everyone likes or agrees or not, why other civilized countries provide their care so much cheaper than we do.

That brings me to the quote that was mentioned in the new york times on meet the press today - Cannot find it at the moment, but to paraphrase, it was stating that American consumerism trumps good medical decisions as dictated by careful scientific analysis. (the words use by the NY times writer was much more eloquent than mine). We would rather pay out the nose for medications, procedures, or tests than be told NO.

I could go on, but for a related detail, see my previous post about the choice that we hold dear in this country (to no good end) and we pay for it out the nose:

http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-358044

NO MORE GODs HANDs PLEASE!!! ---VIDEOs INSIDE

Remember Digeo Maridona scored infamous goal using his hand which was never called as foul or for reply and kicked England out of World cup soccer in 1986 which he later claimed that goal as GOD's HAND. Well it happened again to Ireland and kicked them out of world cup qualifier and lost the last spot to France. The ball was handled not once but twice and the credit goes to Thierry Henry. This goal cost ireland their last sopt for next world cup soccer. Thierry Henry who is looked up many as idol has put his unethical and unprofessiol show on field last week by this act.

It was neither called as foul nor went for reply in sipte of Irish players request to referee. The rage went so high that even French Prime minister apologies to Irish soccer fans after the game.

Even today where Technology has improved so much and contributed to various sports unethical events are still takin place. I don think that refree and upaires should be replaced by ROBOTS but there should be certain freedom to the players to challange refrees decision few time durin the play and should be considered for reply or TV referee. Like in US open tennis, Shuttel batmenton, Ping pong, cricket, etc etc...

Infamous GOD HAND gaol by Maridona in 1986:

Now Thierry Henry:

Controversy In The Age of You Tube

PLEASE NO MORE GODs HAND!!!!!

-------

Thanks

The Republican Way... What Health Care Reform?

During his presidency President Roosevelt tried in vain to get health care for all Americans without any success, but now thanks to the Democrats in Congress the country has an opportunity to gain crucial changes in health care to benefit all Americans. This is a great day for America. Democrats were able to secure sixty votes to take health care reform to the Senate floor for debate.

In the mean while I can’t wait for the new barrage of negative criticisms from so-called conservative radio and TV talk show hosts. What would they say now? I am wondering if any of them dropped from a heart attack yet? After all they all swore that this day would never come.

How about lunatic super screamer out of control scary so-called conservative radio talk show host Mark Levine? By now a vein or two in Levine's neck are ready to blow?

I am certain that the “pack of four”: the druggie, the sexual harasser, the so-called “recovered”-alcoholic and the two-face liar talking heads” Republican mouthpiece Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reily Shaun Hannity, and Glen Beck by now are very busy planning their next big attack yet against health care reform and the public option.

It is no secret that these hateful people spent a substantial amount of airtime on the radio and on Television trying to defeat health care reform. At every step of the way they made sure to bring out every negative scenario that would occur if Congress would to approve a health care bill. It seems that these pack of vicious hypocrites are perfectly fine with the fact that millions of Americans do not have health care.

Is that the Republican way?

The “pack of vicious four” worked diligently for months to make sure that the health care reform bill never ever saw the light of day. These clowns really believed their constant ranting and raving and spewing misinformation and inciting people against health care reform would stop Congress from doing the people’s business?

Obviously the rants and the spewing against health care reform did not work even amongst Blue Dog Democrats. Democrats stuck together for a change and voted to advance the bill to the Senate floor. Lucky for the American people Republicans are not in control of the country any longer… eight years of hell under Republican control, one has to be mentally ill to go back for more.

For months “Talking heads” Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reily Shaun Hanitty, and Glen Beck mounted a vicious well orchestrated “over the top” radio and TV campaign including rallies and “Tea Bagging” events against health care reform and the public option. The

”pack of four” were in a big time roll as they spew a litany of negative rants not only against health care reform and the public option, but also against Democrats and lets not forget President Obama and his administration, which they truly despise.

Limbaugh, O’Reilly, Hannitty, Beck and Levine spent months spewing and ranting hateful misrepresentations trying to scare and or convince people that “health care reform was bad for America and health care reform was “dead in the water” And that “health care reform was not going anywhere anytime soon” in this country… their desperate rants obviously did not work. They were sadly convinced that the health care bill would never make it to the Senate floor… they were so wrong.

Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Shaun Hannitty Glen Beck and Mark Levine failed to recognize that the majority of the American people favor a public option and are demanding that their elected representative vote for a public option in the health care reform bill. If they don’t follow the mandate of their constituencies and vote to exclude public option from the bill, next election they can find another job.

I am baffled by the audacity of Republicans and certain Blue Dog Democrats… The health care of Americans is the most important and biggest investment the U.S. can make. A healthy country is one with a healthy populace. To deny health care for all Americans is to ignore the health and security of the country.

The health care reform vote will only advance the bill to the Senate floor to enter in to a debate. Basically is the first step of many, but nonetheless this is a very important step that could culminate in health care reform for the benefit of the American people. This alone represents a lot more Republicans ever offered to the American people… change is in the air.

As far as the vicious “pack of four” + one Limbaugh, Hannity, Beck, O’Reilly and Levine I am sure that they are getting ready to rant and spew some more hateful messages fill with misrepresentations. In the mean while as millions of Americans I am looking forward to the health care debate in the Senate… I can’t wait. Peace… cookie.

Johnnie Walker Keeps Walking, But What About Our Leaders?

The known slogan of the Scottish famous brand Scotch Whisky "Johnnie Walker - Keep Walking" brought to my mind more then five different ideas that I would like to write about, but I decided to deal with the a political issue, a mental one.

When I click on the 'Explorer' I always try to guess what will my Israeli homepage show me on its top headlines column. Will it be another murder or a car accident, or will it be another terror attack?

I don't blame any of the world's leaders in causing any of those horrible routine headlines, and I won't say a bad word about them dealing with the world's problems (not this time anyway). But I am strongly desperate by this doomed epidemic among politicians of lack of faith.

Faith, hope and devotion, three extremely important key words that I believe can change this world. And if not change, maybe improve.

Many of us responds in disparagement to these three words, they are kitsch, little obsolete. Anyway, I think that we lost them, we lost our faith in many things, We, togather with our elected or not eected leaders, lost our honesty.

The technology and the crazy rythm of living a modern life made us feel that we've seen everything, but we didn't. We are not as smart as we think, we may come back and believe that things are reversible, that we should keep fight for justice and for preventing the deficiencies of this world.

Lots of our leaders lost the right way, they have a serious lack of faith, so all I'm trying to say is "Keep Walking".

I want my leaders keep doing their best to bring me what I want, what the public wants, and I think that many of us still believe in a better world.

Keep your faith with you, keep fighting for us and for the future.
