The Dream Lives On
*
Family Touched by Hate Carries on King's Legacy of Love *

+California and Texas+-* Martin Luther King, Jr.'s dream of
hope and equality is being carried on by Maria Landry Ross and her
family. Ross Flags and Design has been granted rights by
Intellectual Properties Management (exclusive Licensor of the King
Estate) to manufacture and distribute a flag that carries the slain
civil rights leader's image with the caption, "Yesterday's Dream
Tomorrow's Reality". The flag is the product of the love for and
belief in Dr. King and his message.

Maria Landry Ross and her family originally designed and
created one flag to display from her home during the time of Dr.
King's birthday in January and throughout black history month in
February. Maria's mother liked the flag so much that she would
borrow the flag to display on her own home as well. When Maria's
mother borrowed the flag to display from a podium at a school for a
King Day celebration, the school asked if they could display the
flag for black history month, Maria thought there might be a need
for this flag on a larger scale.

On the morning of June 19^th^ 2000, life as the Ross family
knew it changed forever. Maria, her husband Dwayne, and their two
young children awoke to find a seven-foot cross burning on the lawn
of their suburban home. The day, known as "Juneteenth", is
traditionally the day that African Americans celebrate their
emancipation from slavery. For the Ross' family it was a day of
decision. Maria and Dwayne decided on that day to keep fighting for
the dream that Dr. King sparked in their hearts and minds. What
could have been a day of tragedy and loss was turned into a life
affirming moment.

Maria and Dwayne, founders of Ross Flags, have used this
tragedy to drive their desire to carry on Dr. King's legacy. Maria
says, "This flag is a constant visual reminder of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr.'s vision. If we are to continue moving forward, we must
go back and rediscover that Dr. King's dedication to justice,
peace, and brotherhood lies within each of us. We are the enablers
that contribute to making his dream become a reality!"

The family owned business will market the nylon flag through
both The King Center and on their own website as well. For more
information on this flag, log onto www.rossflags.com.

African Amercians dying too soon?

Black people lead in all weight related diseases, including
diabetes, hypertension, obesity and certain cancers. Because of
these dieases, we have the highest mortality rate among adults. Our
health is the biggest issue facing the black community today.

My sister Cathy (photo right) died at age 49 after a lifetime
of battling her weight.

When will we as a community get serious about our health?

I wrote a book called HUNGRY FOR MORE which encourages black
people to get control of their physical and emotional well being
for happier, more producitve lives.

US
Congress teams with Environmentalists to starve undesirables.

July 20th, 2008

With the summers massive flooding in the Mid-west 3.3 million
acres of crops is expected to be lost to the floods covering the
central farm states. The only benefit that may come from the
widespread flooding in the nation's Midwestern grain belt is that
it is a God-send to Environmentalists everywhere who are praying to
Mother Earth for the day that 90% of the earth's population will be
exterminated by the lack of food and heating oil.
Their plan is being aided by the U.S. congress with their
federal energy bill signed into law last fall requiring the
production of 9 billion gallons of biofuels this year, up from 6.4
billion in the 2007 law. The mandate will be met largely by
producing ethanol from corn.
Continuing to convert corn to ethanol will push up global
food prices by 10 to 15 percent, according to a United Nations
estimate, and add to the hunger and starvation in the poorest parts
of the world. Twenty percent of the nation's corn crop now goes to
make ethanol.
Congress stepped in to subsidize the production of ethanol
because the open market can't afford it. It takes 30% more money to
produce a gallon of ethanol which contains 25% less energy than a
gallon of gas. If not for this government cheese program this less
efficient, more expensive fuel would not be produced at all.
Environmentalists are hoping to top their first major success
of getting the pesticide DDT banned in 1972 which was followed by
the deaths of 60 million people from the spread of Malaria.

Environmentalists everywhere can rest assured tonight that
the U.S. Congress is on your side in the battle to save the earth
by killing the people you have deemed undesirable.

Mister
Racial profiling is an insiduous activity which I was raised
up in, in Brooklyn, NY. There have been times that I have been in a
store, find out I am being followed, in anticipation of a theft
about to occur. I simply ask the official to push the cart.
However, even here in Roanoke, VA, this activity is being
perpetrated still. This is the most color-conscious place I have
ever been to. Everything from the neighborhood I live in, to
articles in the paper to even the stores here, is all tinged with
the accusation that being black means you're just an unarrested
perpetrator.
Being in the Bible belt, I often ask white people what are
they going to do when Jesus comes back as a black man? The awkward
silent moment is quite telling.
It's just how life is here in America (black). I often tell
people that what America is experiencing now is the
niggerization of America. As America has treated black
people for decades, they are now treating all who are not rich the
same way.
